Zolotorofe examines controlling interest transfer taxes for MARE Journal

AGA Attorney Jessica Zolotorofe looks at the different ways states treat the “Controlling Interest Tax” in her latest column in the Aug 26 issue of the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal. Most states don’t have a version of the tax, first imposed by New York in 1986, which is intended to ensure that the state receives the appropriate tax revenue when a property changes hands.
