Shannon Maroutian

Associate

A lifetime spent surrounded by and immersed in the world of real estate and construction formed the solid foundation for Shannon Maroutian’s sophisticated practice representing buyers, sellers, lenders, developers, lessors, and others in a wide range of commercial property transactions. With particularly substantial experience in complex real estate financing and an approach that combines meticulous attention to detail with a holistic, big-picture perspective, Shannon has shepherded scores of consequential deals to consummation and earned the trust of clients who appreciate her professional but personable counsel.

Shannon appreciates time’s critical importance in the matters she handles. She thrives under deadlines and pressure and works tirelessly to bring transactions to closing as efficiently and expeditiously as possible, all without sacrificing the work needed to protect or advance her clients’ interests. Her ability to coordinate and synthesize the efforts of all parties to a transaction, no matter which side of a deal she is on, is largely a product of her deep real estate financing background.

Focusing on loans of up to $200 million secured by various types of real estate, Shannon has represented lenders in real estate financing transactions, including mortgage loans, construction loans, and loans intended for securitization as commercial mortgage-backed securities and collateralized loan obligations. She has drafted and reviewed all manner of loan and workout documentation and has successfully protected the rights of financial institutions, servicers, and special servicers in connection with distressed real estate loans and the disposition of commercial properties.

Shannon’s passion for her work is apparent and deeply held. Raised in a family involved in the construction and real estate industries, she developed an appreciation of what it meant to build something out of nothing, to take an idea or aspiration and turn it into a tangible accomplishment. It drives her commitment to her clients and the projects and transactions they entrust her with.

Shannon earned her law degree at the McGill University Faculty of Law and began her practice at a boutique real estate law firm in New York City before joining a highly regarded AmLaw 100 firm as a real estate finance attorney.
